Dr. Alan Siegal is a renowned psychiatrist who serves as associate clinical professor at Yale University School of Medicine and is an attending physician at Yale-New Haven Hospital. His specialties include neurology and geriatric psychiatry.
Dr. Siegal is also a managing partner of the Geriatric & Adult Psychiatry Clinical Care and Research Center, with offices located in Hamden and Wilton, Connecticut.
In addition, Dr. Siegal is the founding director of the Yale Alzheimer’s Disease and Cognitive Disorders Research Unit and past President of the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry.
Dr. Siegal is a well-known author and contributor to multiple books and has also written various reviews and original articles. His books include Forget Me Not, Caring for and Coping with Your Aging Parents (10 Speed Press, 1993) and the Geriatric Psychiatry Practice Management Handbook (AAGP, 1997).
In April 2018, Connecticut Magazine reported that Dr. Siegal was one of 14 doctors practising at the Yale Department of Psychiatry named to the bi-annual Best Doctors in America list. The survey is compiled by Best Doctors, a global benefits provider and medical information services company which produces an impartial peer review of doctors across the United States.
Dr. Siegal has travelled around the world, lecturing about his research and clinical experience in dozens of appearances.
He completed his residency in psychiatry and fellowship in geriatric psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky and has been in practice for nearly 40 years.
